Day 1

Ranipuram was in my wish list long back but could not go last year, this year as usual HATS announced the trek so booked ticket to Kanhangad,  plan was to see Bekal fort too as most of them will reach Kanhangad by 7-9am

Train was late by about 45 minutes had a nice sleep, reached Bekal fort station its about 15 minutes walk to Bekal fort joined the team from Kochi took tickets and strolled over Bekal fort it has numerous forts on all of the corners facing sea, and the famous movie Bombay movie song "uyiraee uyiraee"fort spend some time as the other team has to join us

By bus moved to Kanhangad had lunch from Indian coffee house not up to the standards of ICH then waited for the lone KSRTC bus to Ranipuram there is no direct bus to Ranipuram only 2 KSRTC service one in the morning 7am & 2.45pm otherwise you have to catch bus upto Panathady from there you have to take autorickshaw or jeep it will cost about Rs 25 per person from Panathady there is frequent buses to Kanhangad Panathady to Ranipuram is about 10 Km. Boarded the bus thru the winding steep roads reached Ranipuram by 4.30pm after a small walk reached our dormitory Olive

Olive is in a nice location a stream with nice just behind a small pool, huts and orchards individual rooms & dormitory at the top which can accommodate upto 15-20

Ranipuram is a cozy place not much commercialisation only a handful of resorts KTDC also have

Strava showed 4.5 kms which can be easily done  within 2 hours, we took about 3 hours with breaks in between and photo shoots

At 12pm we started our trek back had a small drizzle reached back at Ranipuram entry point, lunch with Kanji & kappa moved to Olive took some rest, went to stream had a refreshing dip in the rushing stream.
